Q&A

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How should I decide which filter system to use?

Choosing the right water filter depends on your specific needs, water quality, budget, and installation preferences. Our two-stage system requires a dedicated beverage faucet and filters more contaminants, while the single stage system connects directly to your existing faucet with minimal effort.

Start by identifying the contaminants in your water. Check your local water utility’s Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) using our Water Quality Look-Up Tool or test your water with a DIY kit or professional service. Choose a filter that fits your installation needs and is certified to remove the contaminants you’re targeting.

Under-sink filters strike a balance of convenience, effectiveness and affordability for most households, especially if your focus is cleaner drinking and cooking water.

Is the filter system hard to install?

The Clarifi system is designed for simple, DIY installation and comes with detailed instructions through the user guide and installation videos. However, the difficulty can depend on your DIY skills, tools and existing plumbing setup.

Tools You Might Need:

  • Screwdriver
  • Drill
  • Teflon tape (for threaded connections)

Note that this system can only be installed to a cold-water line. Running hot water through the system will cause damage.

What do I need to know about replacing the filter cartridges?

The filters will need to be replaced about every 1 year or after it’s filtered 10,000 gallons, whichever comes first. The system will use audible alerts and the LCD digital display to notify you when it’s time to replace the filter.

You can order the replacement filter through our website or other vendors. Other brand filters are not compatible with the Delta system.

We designed the filters to be quick and easy to replace. Simply remove the old cartridge and install the new one with simple twist and lock quarter turn mechanism.

After you’re done, the filter cartridges can be thrown away. They cannot be recycled but are not hazardous waste, so standard disposal is okay.

How long do the batteries last? Is there an AC adapter I can use?

The system is designed to only be used with AA batteries. AC power cannot be used.

The 3 included AA batteries last at least 2 years with a multiyear battery life.

Why do I need to flush the system for 10 minutes after install?

The flush primes the filter, ensuring you don’t drink gritty or off-tasting water later and the filter is saturated for optimal performance. Until the flush is done, the water might not meet the taste or clarity you expect from a new filter.

The filters are made of food-grade, nontoxic materials, so the flush water is not dangerous. However, we recommend caution when trying to re-use this water by watering plants as the carbon particles may affect sensitive plants.

How do I know the filter is working?

There are a few signs you can look for to tell if your new filter is working.

  1. Improved taste and odor: To test this, you can sample regular tap water from a separate faucet and do a side-by-side comparison against the filtered water.
  2. Clean water appearance: No visible particles, cloudiness or discoloration should be present.
  3. Proper flow rate: A dramatic decrease in flow rate could indicate clogging. Check your lines for debris or your home's water quality. The more contaminated your water, you may need to replace filters more frequently.
  4. Effective chlorine reduction: You can use a chlorine test strip to confirm the carbon filter is working.
